Heathrow T2B Phase 2

Heathrow, London

Terminal 2B, Phase 2 was part of the ongoing £1Bn development of the Eastern Campus for BAA at Heathrow. Balfour Beatty were the main contractor and after a rigorous selection process chose Byrne Bros. as their reinforced concrete subcontractor for the £75M sub and super-structure construction. Byrne Bros.’ submission stood out due to our ability to meet Balfour’s own aspirations for aligning the reinforced concrete solution with lean construction principles. In particular for reinforcement to be designed for manufacture and assembly.

The scope of works involved the construction of 130,000m³ of heavy reinforced concrete basement within a D-Wall perimeter. Elements of the T2B structure were being built to safeguard BAA’s overall Eastern Campus plan that includes a future T2C structure and therefore significant parts of the structure have limited fit out in this phase.
