Team Stadium

Team Stadium has been hailed for its performance completing the 2012 stadium on time, under budget and without any major accidents.

Olympic Delivery Authority chairman John Armitt laid the last piece of turf March 2011 marking completion of the main construction phase which has lasted nearly three years. He said: ?To complete a complicated project such as this in less than three years is testament to the skill and professionalism of the UK construction industry.?I would like to thank the Team Stadium consortium and all of the workers for their hard work and commitment.?

Byrne Bros. are one of 240 UK businesses that have won contracts for the construction of the Stadium and over 5,250 people have worked on the project over the past three years.

More than 5,000 reinforced concrete columns were installed into the ground, up to 20m deep, to provide the foundations to support the Stadium structure. 12,000 pre-cast concrete terracing units also hold the spectator seating in place.
