Park House

London W1

A landlocked development on London’s busy Oxford Street saw our engineers use innovative techniques to help reduce the effect of vibration, meet a tight construction schedule and deliver the highest standards of technical excellence in a safe and highly productive way.

Alongside main contractor Mace, Byrne Bros. helped reshape one block of Oxford Street by delivering a mixed retail, commercial and residential scheme, where apartment owners can boast Selfridges as their local convenience store.

Constructing the concrete frame for an 8-storey mixed use development, in a tight site on one of London’s busiest thoroughfares, is a difficult task at the best of times. But the close proximity of the main road, London Underground’s Central Line running only a few metres below the development and a restricted delivery period made it even more challenging.

We worked closely with the project team to identify solutions that helped to trim the concrete frame construction schedule to just 40 weeks

Divided into two sections, the east side of the building featured composite floors to level 2 with reinforced concrete slabs used in the residential stage of the scheme above that. At the western side of the project, predominantly retail and commercial use, all the floors were of composite construction.
