The Cutty Sark Conservation Project was a truly unique initiative. Constructed of a variety of materials, rebuilding the ship was a complicated process, so a unique conservation plan was developed to ensure the heritage and the integrity of the Cutty Sark remained intact.
Works included the re-fixing of the planks with new bolts to the hull of the ship, which were in need of varying degrees of repair and were removed from the ship to undergo carefully managed stages of detailed conservation.
