Liam Shine, Byrne Bros. Construction Manager, is running the Manchester Marathon on 5th April 2020 to help raise funds for a family friend who has MS.
Annette Donouzjian is a single mum of 4 children. The two boys are 10 and 8 and the girls are 6 and 3.
Annette was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2004, with the condition becoming increasingly worse over the last 3 years. Her quality of life is now deteriorating significantly. Chronic tiredness is a real problem, and with 4 children Annette gets almost no recuperation time. The realisation that she may need a wheelchair in the very near future has hit her hard.
Annette is desperate to improve her and her children's quality of life and has spent countless hours researching every possible alternative treatment. One such treatment is AHST (Stem Cell Treatment) which Annette has been accepted for and will undergo in Moscow in May this year, assuming she can raise £45,000.
The short of it is, this treatment is a chemotherapy based medical procedure that will reboot her immune system using her own stem cells. It is the only medical procedure currently known to halt the progression of the disease. Annette’s friends and family are desperate to help raise the money needed for this vital treatment, hence Liam signing up for the gruelling 26.2 Manchester marathon.
