Byrne Bros. Apprenticeship Academy

In late 2013, Byrne Bros. entered into a formal partnership with the National Construction College (NCC) to deliver apprenticeship training from our Mitcham Training Centre. Previously, it was only possible to receive formwork apprenticeship training at the NCC headquarters in Norfolk. This new initiative enables us to operate as a satellite NCC training centre, delivering this training here in London.

Since late 2013, Byrne Bros. have recruited 26 apprentices to complete an NVQ L2 apprenticeship in formwork. David Bunting, Senior Instructor from the NCC, said "We hope the relationship we have established with Byrne Bros. will serve as an example to other companies to embark on this type of training. So far, Byrne Bros.' apprentices are working to a higher level of workmanship than would usually be expected at this stage - they are a credit to the company."

Karly Hughes, Training and Legacy Manager, who recruits and manages the apprentices added, "The contribution from our site teams, especially our supervisors who have mentored the apprentices, combined with the support from the National Construction College, has been key in delivering a highly successful scheme."
