SCOPE OF WORK
Byrne Bros played a major role in facilitating the growth of Lakeside Shopping Centre by completing the design and build of the substructure and superstructure of two six-storey car parks. The construction involved an in situ composite structure, post tensioned concrete frame with precast floors. At the time this was being built, it was constructed as the largest retail centre car park in the UK. A heavy refurbishment project for this landmark destination shopping centre, involved: new ceilings and GRG (CDP); M&E Services; escalators; three scenic lifts; structural alterations; balustrades to all mall voids and staircases; floor tiling, mall entrances (5 no – general refreshment – glazing/auto doors/canopy/rooflights); joinery (information desks/pilasters/doors and frames); decorative glass wall cladding and decorations.
The works mentioned above were completed 'out of hours' on budget and on time, the Ellmer Project Manager who ran the project for Ellmer Construction has been shortlisted for the Construction Manager of the Year Awards 2005.
