As part of Byrne Group's commitment to environmental awareness and following the success of last year's Health & Safety poster competition, the Group launched a second poster competition, this year focusing on environmental issues.
Aimed at children related to Byrne Group staff, the competition was designed to convey a visual message about environmental awareness amongst all Byrne Group staff and contractors associated with the business.
A team of judges, including Directors from across the Group, pored over the entries before deciding on two overall winners.
The standard was exceptionally high and deciding on the winners extremely difficult but finally the judges opted for those entries which combined a good environmental message with a clear and influential design.
Kieran Earley, aged 13, won the 12-16 age category with his colourful poster promoting the benefits of recycling, whilst nine year old sister, Abigail Earley, won the 11 and Under category with her unique design emphasising the importance of reducing pollution.
The winning designs have been displayed in all Byrne Group offices and on sites, and also feature in a 2009 calendar together with entries by ten runners-up.
